2 kaloi 100g each = 0.1 x 2 = 0.2 point
4 "liat" 100g each = 0.1 x 4 = 0.4 point
consider both species is low class, thus multiplication factor is 1.0
total = 0.6 point
pasir pandak pt 3
2 angcho at 300g each = 0.3 x 2 = 0.6 point
mid class fish, multiplication factor is 2.0 = 0.6 x 2 = 1.2 points

pasir pandak part 3
it is hard to give up a fishing location that has been faithful to you. today, i decided to go fish at pasir pandak again. weather was perfect. actually, it was too hot... but it did not deter me one bit. bought 20 pieces of live prawn for RM3.00. reached location by 2.30pm and started fishing immediately. i did some casting while i pasang a bottom fishing setup. casting was zero. saw a few, foot long garfish, following my popper but there was no hookup. the tide was coming in and the culvert where i was fishing, the water was turbulent. as the flow of the water eases... i notice my bottom fishing rod twitched. went to collect the rod and when i felt another pull at the end... i struck. fish on!!! made a short fight of the fish... which was a 300g angcho. the second fish was landed about 30 minutes later. at first, i thought my line had been severed by the pesky buntal because the tight line became limp. when i walked to retrieve the rod, i saw the line straightening again. whatever fish it was, it was still at the end of the line. well, i struck the rod and another 300g angcho was tamed. brought both fish home to goreng!!!
batang ai fishing (19 - 20 April 2007)
managed to fish for 2 days. fish caught were small... 100g each. species were the kaloi or giant gourami and the "liat" (local name), a kind of barb that looks like the sebarau, save for the vertical stripe in the middle of the body. vivienne, my wife, caught a tilapia also around a 1oog. the fish put up quite a fight and it took a while to land the fish with my ultra light gear. all in all, yours truly caught 2 kaloi and 4 liat.
