the sky was overcast and sea conditions was choppy. time was around 6am. everyone switched to target the elusive parrots. many hearts have been broken by this creature... especially those who came ill prepared and underestimating the power of the parrot. bait for the parrots were "udang pasar" courtesy of hh.
the first attack and second attack came almost simultaneously. chai got the fist attack. the rod bent to breaking point. chai was not prepared. shouts coming like "PUMP! PUMP!" "LOCK THE BRAKES!" from the rest were heard. chai almost lost the plot, if not for hashim who came to the rescue. he guided the fish from its coral lair and when it surfaced, it was immediately netted!!! a 1.5kg parrot!!! wat a beauty.
before the commotion subsided, my rod bent too. i had my rod in hand and immediately gave it an opposite lift. but too bad, the parrot got away this time around. i re-baited and continue to lower the bait right below the boat and true enough, the parrot was still there. within 5 minutes, my rod bent again, but this time there was no escape for the parrot... even though the gear that i used was relatively small. 12-40lb rod, penn 940 baitcaster, 19lb mainline, 60lb leader and 5/0 suicide hooks. when landed, the parrot was about 1kg in weight... but i thought it gave a fight of a 2kg fella. my first ever parrot!!! yahoo. that's

hashim was getting restless. the front of the boat has got a parrot. the back of the boat has got another. roof of boat still zero. he didn't have to wait for long. without warning... john's rod (which was lent to hashim) bent an almost perfect "n" shape. hashim moved like lightning to get the rod of the holder and pumped up the bugger! a 1.3kg specimen surfaced soon and was netted.
not bad... 4 pulls 3 hook-ups. not bad at all.
